For more than 10 years, AUSiMED has created and supported leading edge medical research collaborations and knowledge exchange initiative between Australia and Israel that have facilitated breakthrough medical discovery and advancements in global healthcare. As AUSiMED enters its second decade of operations, new projects are underway. Our projects are listed below.
Paediatric Kidney Disease
Discovering interventions to hasten kidney development in premature babies protecting them from developing Chronic Kidney Disease later in life.
Ovarian Cancer
Developing a new therapy to treat women diagnosed at late stages of ovarian cancer.
COVID19 Public Health and Research Mission to Israel
AUSiMED facilitated the visit to Israel, of fifteen of Australia’s leading Public Health experts, led by Professor Sharon Lewin AO.
2nd International Conference on Trauma and Mental Health
This conference, hosted by AUSiMED delivered a powerful program covering innovative approaches to the treatment of PTSD to mental health professionals from Europe, the middle east, Australia, and North America.
AUSiMED Fellowships Program
Medical fellowships for outstanding Israeli doctors and researchers to train in an aspect of medicine, research or both at a world-leading Australian institution - and vice versa.
Israel Short Stays Program
This program promotes knowledge exchange and facilitates research collaborations between Australia and Israel.
Youth Mental Health Learning Exchange Program
A collaboration between Orygen Youth mental Health (Australia) and Enosh – Israel Mental Health Association.
Goshen Project
AUSiMED supported the development of the Goshen Child Health and Wellbeing Center in Jerusalem, the Negev and in northern Israel.
Immune Disorders
Develop new stem cell therapies for treating immune disorders.
Cystic Fibrosis (CF)
Developing a new technique for early identification of respiratory tract exacerbation in children with cystic fibrosis.
Vascular dementia
Assessing a new approach to prevent the cerebral cell death that leads to VaD.
Brain Cancer
Developing a blood test that can detect recurrences of brain cancer (glioma) after surgical excision.
Bowel Cancer
Developing a new immunotherapy for resistant forms of bowel cancer.
Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC)
Characterising cancer stem cell populations in TNBC tumours comparing survival between BRCA-carriers and non-carriers.
Foetal cardiac function
Developing new ultrasound techniques to improving diagnosis of foetal cardiac function in high-risk pregnancies
Dream Doctors
AUSiMED supported the Dream Doctors Project which enabled 1000s of children in Israel undergoing traumatic medical procedures to meet with a medical clown during their hospitalization to help reduce pain and anxiety.
Congenital heart defects
Identifying the specific genetic mutations responsible for major heart defects in children from consanguineous marriages.
