AUSiMED PRESENTS THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR THE SOCIAL EVENT OF THE YEAR

Marc Freeman

Untitled #1 2015

mixed media on linen
190 x 235cm
Gallery Price $ 18,000

Marc Freeman is an image-maker whose work recalls the rich history of modernist abstraction. He creates compositions based on his own set of symbolic shapes, which refer to existing forms and his own internal logic. Abstract painting’s somewhat mythical and devout history becomes a fertile playground to explore its currency. Freeman’s work is simultaneously a product of abstraction’s past altruistic endeavours and a celebration of its wholly egocentric pursuit of self-expression. His work invites interpretation and deciphering, with an understanding that this is a pursuit fraught with difficulty and most likely with no definitive outcomes.

One of 100 Painters of Tomorrow, Freeman is included is this international survey of one hundred painters sampled from four thousand five hundred artists from thirty countries that are currently pushing the envelope in painting. Freeman was one of only sixteen invited to exhibit at Christie’s for the launch in London, New York and Turin in the past year.
